Contractors removed from the VerifiedADU directory for failing to meet the 7-point verification standard.

Removal Criteria
Contractors are removed from VerifiedADU if they fail to meet any component of the 7-point verification standard that is subject to ongoing monitoring:
- Active License: License expired, suspended, revoked, or canceled — or classification changed to one not appropriate for ADU work
- Contractor Bond: Bond expired or was not renewed
- Workers’ Compensation: Workers’ comp insurance lapsed or was canceled, and no valid exemption is on file
- Clean Record: Unresolved complaint filed with CSLB or disciplinary action taken
- Suspicious License Name Changes: Unexplained license name changes or rebranding patterns identified
Contractors are also removed for providing fraudulent information, fail to respond to verification requests, or violate our terms of service.
What We Document
For each removed contractor, we record:
- Business name and license number
- Date removed from directory
- Reason for removal (which verification standard failed)
- Current license status (if available via CSLB)
Removed contractors can be re-listed if they resolve the issue and meet all verification standards again. Re-listing requires re-verification of all credentials.
Dispute a Removal
If you are a builder and believe your business was removed from VerifiedADU in error, contact us immediately at [email protected] with your business name and CSLB license number. Your CSLB record will be manually verified within 24 hours. If the removal was caused by a data error, your listing will be restored and the entry removed from this page. You will receive an email confirmation when the issue is resolved.
Report a Concern
If you hired a contractor listed on VerifiedADU and experienced issues related to their license, bond, insurance, or professional conduct, please report it to:
- California Contractors State License Board (CSLB): File a complaint at cslb.ca.gov or call 1-800-321-CSLB (2752)
- VerifiedADU: Email [email protected] with the contractor’s name, license number, and a brief description of the issue
CSLB complaint records are monitored every 12 hours and will remove contractors from our directory if unresolved complaints are filed.
